Mohammad Miah

Mohammad Miah is a researcher and academic affiliated with TU Graz since 2021, holding the position of Universitätsassistent mit Doktorat. He completed his doctoral studies at ETH Zurich, where his thesis focused on semi-active control of magnetorheological (MR) dampers using system identification methods. His research expertise lies in structural engineering, vibration mitigation, and smart materials, particularly in the design and application of semi-active control strategies for civil structures under dynamic loads like seismic or wind forces. He has contributed to advancing methodologies involving sliding mode control (SMC), Kalman filters, and Bouc-Wen modeling for system identification and damping system optimization. Miah has published extensively in journals like Structural Control and Health Monitoring and Smart Materials and Structures, and presented at international conferences. His teaching experience includes courses on finite element methods and structural analysis at ETH Zurich. Professional memberships include the Institute of Engineers Bangladesh, American Concrete Institute, and American Society of Civil Engineers.
