Mohammad Almasri is the ConocoPhilips Associate Professor of Arabic Language, Literature, and Culture at the University of Oklahoma, holding a joint appointment between the Department of International and Area Studies and the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Linguistics within the David L. Boren College of International Studies. He earned his PhD in Linguistics from the University of Kansas and completed his undergraduate studies at Yarmouk University in Jordan.
His research focuses on the acoustic behavior of emphasis in Arabic, lexical access mechanisms, and pedagogical applications of linguistic research to teaching Arabic as a second language. He currently teaches advanced Arabic language courses and contemporary Arab cultural studies. Prior to OU, he held roles as Chair of the Department of English Language and Literature and Director of the Language Center at Hashemite University in Jordan, where he also served as a lecturer and assistant professor. He has taught Arabic and linguistics in Jordan, Morocco, and the U.S.
