About
Mohamed Awad is a Lecturer at the Department of Conservative Dental Sciences, College of Dentistry, Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University (2013–2023) and currently a Doctor of Philosophy (Dentistry) student at the University of Western Australia. His research focuses on adhesive dentistry, dental materials, and bond strength mechanisms. Key areas include the effects of chemical etching agents, ultrasound treatments, and material surface conditioning on dentin and ceramic adhesion.
Education: Master's in Conservative Dentistry from Alexandria University (2010–2013), with a thesis on microtensile bond strength of dental adhesives. He also held a visiting researcher position at the University of Turku's Department of Cariology and Restorative Dentistry (2022).
Research Interests:
- Bond strength of adhesives to dentin and ceramics
- Effects of acid etching and plasma treatments on material properties
- Development of biomimetic dental composites
- Adhesive durability under accelerated aging
Scientific Contributions: His work spans 20 peer-reviewed articles, including studies on ultrasound-enhanced adhesion and comparative etching techniques. Notable findings include improved bond strength via inositol hexaphosphate etching despite microhardness loss.
Awards: Received the University Postgraduate Award (UWA, 2022) and Scientific Research Quality Award (2022).
Editorial Activities: Peer reviewer for Dental Materials, BMC Oral Health, Odontology, and Scientific Reports.
