Misty Rondeau

Misty Rondeau is an Assistant Professor of Woodwinds and Music Education at Mars Hill University (MHU), located in Mars Hill, NC. She holds a Master of Music in Flute Performance and a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi, studying under Sharon Lebsack. Her roles include teaching woodwinds, directing ensembles, and mentoring students in music education.

As a performer, Rondeau is a versatile flutist and reed player, active with orchestras like the Hendersonville Symphony and theater productions such as The Producers and Jesus Christ Superstar. She leads the ensemble FUJIN, dedicated to expanding contemporary repertoire for flute and saxophone. Notable performances include world premieres of commissioned works and collaborations with composers like Michael Young and Stephen Dankner.

Rondeau’s pedagogical experience spans K-12 public schools (Buncombe County and Asheville City systems) and university-level instruction. She has served as the Tau B Province Officer for Sigma Alpha Iota and currently handles financial duties for its Lambda Beta chapter. Her advocacy for contemporary music includes recordings like Fujin: The 10th Anniversary Album and performances at venues such as the U.S. Navy Saxophone Symposium.

Her work with MHU includes leading the Wind Symphony and organizing events like the Mars Hill New Music Festival. She combines performance, education, and ensemble leadership to foster musical excellence in her community.
