Ming Tiampo is Full Professor of Art History at Carleton University, co-director of the Centre for Transnational Cultural Analysis (CTCA), and cross-appointed to the Institute for Comparative Studies in Literature, Art and Culture. She specializes in transnational modernisms, focusing on global microhistories, circulation, comparative diasporas, and decolonization.

- Research: Deconstructing Eurocentric narratives in modern art, particularly through the Gutai group, Inuit-Japanese print connections, and post-imperial dialogues in London and Paris.
- Projects: Mobile Subjects: Contrapuntal Modernisms (1945–1989), Worlding Public Cultures, and co-founding the Canadian BIPOC Artists Rolodex.
Research Interests: Tiampo’s work bridges global modernisms, decolonial art, and diasporic practices. She emphasizes contrapuntal methodologies to interrogate imperial archives and reimagine art histories through transnational, transcultural frameworks. Her Slade, London, Asia project (2021) explores how colonial and postcolonial artists navigated British art education to build new visual vocabularies.
Recent Publications: Her 2022 monograph Jin-me Yoon: Life and Work (Art Canada Institute) examines Canadian diasporic art. In 2023, she contributed chapters to The Indian Avant-Garde and Companion to French Art, alongside journal articles in Texte zur Kunst and ArtMargins.

She co-founded the CTCA (2005) and TrACE network (2018), and contributes to journals and editorial boards like the Hyundai Tate Research Center: Transnational.
