Mildred Roche

Mildred Roche is a Lecturer in Accompanying at the Petrie School of Music, Converse College. She earned her Master of Music in Vocal Accompanying from Boston University and is a proud alumna of Converse (Class of 1979). Her roles include directing the Accompanying Program, teaching Song Literature, Diction, and Musicianship, and serving as faculty advisor to Delta Omicron and the Newman Club.

Her research interests align with vocal accompanying, opera coaching, and music education. She has collaborated with renowned musicians like Phyllis Curtin, Frederica von Stade, and Thomas Dunn, enhancing her expertise in choral and operatic contexts.

Mrs. Roche’s career spans teaching at the Pre-College program (now Lawson Academy), coaching at the Brevard Music Center Opera Workshop, and serving on staff at the MasterWorks Festival and Bassi Brugnatelli Symposium in Italy. She balances her academic work with family life, spending summers with her husband (a musician) and six children.
