Milan Kolena

Assoc. Prof. Milan Kolena is an Associate Professor at the Department of Composition and Conducting, Faculty of Music and Dance (HTF) at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU). Since 2020, he serves as the Vice-Dean for Development and Artistic Activities. His primary teaching focuses on choir conducting and Gregorian chant. He specializes in sacred choral music and has led workshops globally, including at the Choir Olympics in South Africa.

• Artistic Roles: Conductor of the Apollo Choir, Artistic Director of Schola Gregoriana Bratislavensis, and organizer of 6 international music festivals in Bratislava.
• Jury Experience: Chairman of international choir festival juries in Europe and Asia, and member of the jury at the Olympic Choir Games.

His research emphasizes sacred choral traditions, with a particular focus on Gregorian chant's preservation and modern application. He actively bridges academic teaching with international artistic collaboration through festivals and educational initiatives.
