Michał Sławecki

Michał Sławecki is a Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Church Music at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music (UMFC). He specializes in Gregorian chant, liturgical music, and choral conducting, with research focusing on semiology, performance practice, and historical sources of Western liturgical monody. His academic appointments include Assistant (2008–2012), Adjunct (2012–2020), and Professor (2020–present) at UMFC.

Education: Graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw and studied at Conservatorio di Musica A. Casella (Italy). Holds a doctorate (2012) and habilitation (2016) in conducting.

Research Interests: Gregorian semiology, liturgical monody interpretation, early music repertoires (especially Jasnogórska manuscripts), and the intersection of theology and music. He founded ensembles like Mulierum Schola Gregoriana Clamaverunt Iusti and directs the Studium Śpiewu Gregoriańskiego.

Publications: His articles explore Gregorian chant notation, phonetics, ensemble direction, and liturgical creativity, with emphasis on paleographic analysis and performance contexts.
