About
Mikhail Ivanov is a Full Professor at the Department of Physics, Humboldt University Berlin, and holds a cross-appointed 20% position at Imperial College London. He established and leads the Theory Department at the Max Born Institute for Nonlinear Optics, which includes 35 researchers across attosecond physics, strong-field physics, bio-molecular dynamics, photonics, and condensed matter physics.
- Ph.D. in Physics from General Physics Institute, Moscow (1989)
- M.Sc. with distinction in Mathematical Physics from Moscow State University (1987)
As a pioneer in attosecond science, Ivanov developed theoretical foundations for generating and controlling attosecond light pulses through nonlinear infrared interactions. His work spans quantum control, light-matter interactions, and multi-electron dynamics in molecules.
Recent publications focus on topological strong-field physics, synthetic chiral light applications, and ultrafast many-body dynamics in correlated systems. Keywords include quantum mechanics, condensed matter, and photonics.
- Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Award (2004)
- Rutherford Medal (2003)
His research has produced 30,000+ citations with an H-index of 71. He has published in top journals including Nature Photonics, Nature Physics, and Physical Review Letters, with notable works on high-harmonic generation and quantum control.
