About
Professor Paul Corkum is a Full Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Ottawa. His research focuses on attosecond science, nonlinear optics, and ultrafast laser physics. He leads the Joint Attosecond Science Laboratory and is renowned for pioneering work on high-harmonic generation and attosecond pulse production. His group explores electron dynamics, molecular imaging, and novel light-matter interactions using intense laser fields.
Research Interests:
- Attosecond pulse generation and applications
- Nonlinear light-matter interactions in gases and solids
- Ultrafast electron dynamics and imaging techniques
- High-harmonic generation in novel materials
- Laser-driven quantum control
Recent work includes studies on terahertz generation, structured light control, and sub-femtosecond measurements of electronic processes. His innovations enable real-time observation of atomic-scale phenomena, with applications in nanotechnology and materials science.
Labs & Collaborations: Joint Attosecond Science Laboratory, collaborations with global institutions in photonics and quantum optics.
