Mike Nelson is Professor of Fine Art at Kingston University's Department of Fine Art within the Kingston School of Art. His artistic practice transforms narrative structures into spatial installations, creating immersive environments that challenge viewers' perceptions.
He has exhibited internationally with significant solo shows including 'Extinction Beckons' at Hayward Gallery, London (2023); 'The Book of Spells' at Matt's Gallery, London (2022); and the Tate Britain Commission (2019). Nelson represented Britain at the Venice Biennale in 2011 and has been twice nominated for the Turner Prize (2001, 2007).
His work explores the interplay between physical space, historical context, and viewer experience through large-scale installations that often incorporate found objects and architectural interventions.
