Michèle Finck is Professor of Law and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Tübingen and Director of the CZS Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Law. Her previous affiliations include positions at the University of Oxford, London School of Economics, Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, LUISS University (as Visiting Professor), and University College London (as Affiliated Fellow).
Her research focuses on:
- Legal frameworks for artificial intelligence
- EU data legislation and governance
- AI explainability and public administration applications
- Data intermediary regulation under the Data Governance Act
- GDPR compliance regarding data controllers and personal data
She has authored significant publications including Subnational Authorities in EU Law (Oxford University Press, 2017) and Blockchain Regulation and Governance in Europe (Cambridge University Press, 2018), and co-edited the Cambridge Handbook on the Law of the Sharing Economy and Smart Urban Mobility.
Professor Finck serves on expert committees including the Council of Europe’s ad hoc Committee on Artificial Intelligence and the European Commission’s Blockchain Observatory and Forum. She has advised national institutions, the European Commission, and European Parliament on digital policy matters.
