Michelle Mantsio is a Lecturer in Interior Design at RMIT University's School of Architecture and Urban Design. She currently serves as Co-Ordinator of History and Theory in the Bachelor of Interior Design (Honours) program and previously coordinated Design Studios (2023–2024). With extensive teaching experience in Art and Design, her research focuses on intersections of body, pattern, improvisation, and spatio/temporal conditions, explored through film, installation, performance, textiles, and design.
Her creative practice is research-based, emphasizing multi-level assemblages and their impact on agency, autonomy, and connection. Michelle has exhibited internationally, including recent shows at the National Gallery of Victoria (2023) and Yellow Brick (2025). She is a recipient of multiple awards, including the Banff Centre Artists Award (2017) and Melbourne University Travelling Scholarship (2006).
