Michelle Flahive is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Writing and Rhetoric at the University of Notre Dame's University Writing Program, housed within the College of Arts and Letters. She holds a Ph.D. in Technical Communication and Rhetoric from Texas Tech University, an M.A. in TESL/Applied Linguistics from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and a B.A. in Political Science from the same institution.
Her research focuses on equitable mentorship in writing studies, decolonial theories of language, and improving literacy practices for marginalized communities. She has conducted participatory research on mentorship experiences of Women of Color graduate student instructors to enhance equity in writing programs.
Flahive is affiliated with the Writing Center and contributes to writing program assessment initiatives. Her office is located at 214 Coleman-Morse Center, and she can be reached via phone at 574-631-4799.
