Michalis Fragiadakis serves as Associate Professor at the School of Civil Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece and holds a Visiting Professor position at EMGCU/IFSTTAR laboratory of Gustave Eiffel University.
Dr. Fragiadakis earned his PhD from NTUA and completed MSc degrees at both NTUA and Imperial College, London. His academic career includes previous positions as adjunct lecturer at the University of Thessaly and postdoctoral research at the University of Pavia and University of Cyprus.
His research concentrates on structural engineering with particular emphasis on seismic risk assessment of structures and lifelines. His expertise extends to computational methods in structural analysis and novel soft-computing methodologies for structural design. Dr. Fragiadakis has contributed to numerous National and European research projects focused on seismic risk assessment.
He holds significant professional leadership roles as Treasurer of the Hellenic Society for Earthquake Engineering (HSTAM) and Delegate of Greece to the International Association for Earthquake Engineering (IAEE).
Dr. Fragiadakis has co-chaired 7 international conferences in the COMPDYN series and organized multiple mini-symposia at international conferences. With over 180 publications to his name, he maintains an active research profile as evidenced by his December 2022 presentation at Centrale Nantes on structural reliability and health assessment.
