Michael Ussher is Professor of Behavioural Medicine at St George's, University of London and the University of Stirling. His research develops complex behavioral interventions for smoking cessation—particularly during pregnancy—and physical activity promotion.
Current projects include: Maternal exposure to carcinogens in vapers/smokers; financial incentives for postpartum smoking prevention; adherence interventions for nicotine replacement therapy; and digital health programs for physical activity in diabetes. Methodological expertise encompasses RCTs, cohort studies, and behavioral intervention modeling.
He received the Hamid Ghodse Foundation Chair in Addiction (2013) for tobacco control research. Collaborative networks span the Universities of Nottingham, Edinburgh, and Charles University in Prague.
