Felix Naughton is Professor of Health Psychology at the University of East Anglia's School of Health Sciences, with visiting positions at the University of Cambridge and honorary affiliation at the University of Nottingham. His research focuses on developing and evaluating digital health interventions for behavior change, particularly mobile phone-based systems for smoking cessation. He has pioneered tailored SMS systems and context-aware smartphone apps, with current work on nicotine replacement therapy for pregnant smokers.
His research interests span mHealth technologies, smoking cessation methodologies, e-cigarette applications, and novel N-of-1 study designs. He maintains strong collaborations with international research teams and health organizations.
Professor Naughton received the UEA Impact and Innovation Award and an Academic Fellowship from the Society for the Study of Addiction. He serves as President of the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco in Europe and Associate Editor for the journal Addiction. His committee work includes advisory roles for NICE guidelines on tobacco dependence and digital health interventions.
As a Registered Health Psychologist, he leads multiple national and international projects funded by NIHR and Cancer Research UK, focusing on innovative approaches to tobacco control and health behavior modification.
