Michael Stancliff

Michael Stancliff is an Associate Professor of English at Arizona State University's New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, serving as Director of the New College Writing Program. He holds a Ph.D. from SUNY-Buffalo (2001), an M.A. (1998), and a B.A. from Albion College (1989). His research focuses on 19th-century American literatures, African American literature, and the literature of slavery/emancipation, with a current project exploring post-emancipation racial whiteness in the U.S.

Stancliff teaches courses in rhetoric, African American literature, and special topics like horror studies. He has authored two major works and co-authored a pedagogical text.
