Dr. Michael Mögele is a postdoctoral researcher at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), affiliated with the Department of Science, Technology and Society within the School of Social Sciences and Technology. He is a core member of the “Transforming Mobility and Society” (TraMS) Lab, part of the Munich Cluster for the Future of Mobility in Metropolitan Regions (MCube). His research focuses on regional mobility cultures, sustainability transformations, and the political role of experimental mobility initiatives. Michael holds a PhD in human geography from LMU Munich, where he previously studied geography and physics.
His doctoral work examined the persistence of car-centric cultures in Southern Germany through the lens of production-consumption interrelations. Current projects investigate real-world laboratories and mobility experiments in Munich, emphasizing governance frameworks for sustainable urban transformation. His interdisciplinary approach bridges cultural geography, urban studies, and policy analysis.
Publications highlight themes such as automated driving governance, urban experimentalism, and the cultural dimensions of automotive industries. He actively contributes to debates on interdisciplinarity in mobility research and the socio-spatial impacts of workplace relocations.
