Michael L. Trujillo is an Associate Professor at the University of New Mexico with a joint appointment in the Department of American Studies and the Chicana/o Studies Program. He earned his doctorate in Anthropology from the University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Trujillo’s research focuses on Latina/o identities and transformations in Northern New Mexico, particularly through ethnographic methods and critical regionalism. His work has been published in Aztlán: A Journal of Chicano Studies, Cultural Dynamics, and Oxford Latino Bibliographies. He co-edits the Contextos Book Series at UNM Press and authored The Land of Disenchantment, reviewed in prominent academic journals.
His teaching includes graduate seminars like Cultural Studies and Folklore and undergraduate courses such as Introduction to Southwest Studies. He emphasizes critiques of ethnographic methodologies and textual representation in his courses.
