Michael Hofmann, a 2023 Visiting International Poetry Fellow at Queen's University Belfast's Seamus Heaney Centre, is a renowned poet, prose writer, and translator. Born in Germany (1957) and raised across England, Scotland, and the US, he has published five poetry collections (Nights in the Iron Hotel, Acrimony, Corona, Corona, Approximately Nowhere, One Lark, One Horse) and three prose works (Behind the Lines, Where Have You Been?, Messing About in Boats). He has edited the Faber Book of 20th Century German Poems and curated selections from Malcolm Lowry, Robert Lowell, and others.
- Translation Legacy: Over 100 German-to-English translations, including works by Kafka, Fallada, and Roth.
- Academic Engagement: Participated in seminars (October 20-27, 2023) and a public conversation (November 2, 2023) at the School of Arts, English and Languages.
