Michael Hitchens is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computing at Macquarie University. His research focuses on computer security, including access control, network security protocols, and trust management, alongside studies in video games, player-avatar relationships, and role-playing games. He holds a PhD in Operating Systems from the University of Newcastle (1991) and has prior experience at Western Sydney University (1991-1995, 2000) and the University of Sydney (1996-1999).
