Cody Mejeur is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Media Study at the College of Arts and Sciences, University at Buffalo. Their research bridges trans, queer, and feminist studies with game design, digital humanities, and virtual reality to explore narrative as an embodied and playful process.
- PhD in English from Michigan State University
- MA in English from the University of Chicago
Key research areas include gender and queerness in games, social justice through play, and the intersection of cognitive humanities with digital media. They are currently working on a monograph titled Queer Narrative, Queer Play: Player Experiences and Ludic Realities in Video Games and leading the collaborative project Trans Folks Walking, a 3D walking simulator game focused on trans experiences.
Additional roles include editor at One Shot: A Journal of Critical Games & Play and Diversity Officer for the Digital Games Research Association. They also contribute to the LGBTQ Video Game Archive, preserving and visualizing LGBTQ representation in games.
