Michael Heffernan is a Professor of Historical Geography at the University of Nottingham since 1999. He previously held positions as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, and Reader at Loughborough University (1985–1999), served as Visiting Professor at UCLA (1999), and was an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow at Heidelberg University (2000). He earned his doctorate from the University of Cambridge.
