Dr. Michael DeSousa is an Artist Affiliate in Low Brass at Berry College's Department of Music under the Visual and Performing Arts school. Joining in 2022, he specializes in trombone performance and music education. He holds a Doctorate in Musical Arts and Master of Music from the University of Kentucky, and a Bachelor of Music Performance from Kennesaw State University.
His performance career includes roles with the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, Colla Voce Brazilian Music Group, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra (2016–2018), touring internationally. As a soloist, he has performed at major festivals like the International Trombone Festival and Great American Brass Band Festival. He has contributed to recordings such as Global Graffiti and his upcoming solo album Points of Departure.
Prior to Berry, he instructed trombone at the University of Kentucky and maintained an active private studio. His teaching emphasizes brass performance and musical versatility.
