R. Douglas Wright is a Lecturer in the Brass Department at Northwestern University and principal trombone of the Minnesota Orchestra since 1995. He has performed as a soloist in Kalevi Aho’s Symphony No. 9 for Trombone and Orchestra and premiered Kurt Schwertsik’s Trombone Concerto. Wright previously served as principal trombone with the Empire Brass Quintet, Cleveland Orchestra, and Rhode Island Philharmonic, and as assistant/second trombone in Boston Pops ensembles.
