Dr. Michael Crowe is Professor of Psychology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he directs the Psychology Honors Program. As a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in neuropsychology and geropsychology, his research examines modifiable risk factors for cognitive decline and dementia in older adults, with particular focus on health disparities affecting African American and Hispanic populations.
He currently leads a five-year research project in Puerto Rico and co-directs the Research Education Core of the Deep South Resource Center for Minority Aging Research (RCMAR). His investigations examine relationships between cognitive aging outcomes and factors including leisure activity, educational quality, stress indicators, and chronic health conditions.
Dr. Crowe holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Southern California and a BS in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His office locations include Campbell Hall and the Hugh Kaul Human Genetics Building.
