Michael Burnitt

Dr. Michael Burnitt is a Senior Lecturer at Staffordshire University, part of the Health, Education, Policing and Sciences school. He has over 20 years of experience in primary education as a teacher, senior leader, and trainer. He co-leads the BA Primary Education with Qualified Teacher Status program and oversees the new Level 6 Teacher Apprenticeship route. His expertise spans curriculum design, pedagogy, and educational leadership.

• M.Ed and Ed.D in Educational Leadership (University of Manchester)
• NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headship)

His research focuses on overcoming barriers in primary education, including headteachers’ accountability perceptions, nurture groups in socio-economic contexts, male participation in teacher training, and imposter syndrome among student teachers. He currently supervises three doctoral students.

He has been recognized as a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).
