Michael Brand

Professor Michael Brand is a faculty member at the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD) at Technical University of Dresden, where he conducts research focused on developmental biology and regenerative medicine using zebrafish (Danio rerio) as a primary model organism.

He is currently an active participant in EXC 2068: Physics of Life - The Dynamic Organization of Living Matter (PoL), a Cluster of Excellence at Technical University of Dresden.

His laboratory has been instrumental in establishing advanced research infrastructure including the Biopolis Dresden Imaging Platform (BioDIP) and has secured major equipment such as genome sequencers and transmission electron microscopes with integrated fluorescence capabilities.

Professor Brand's scientific contributions span multiple projects focused on understanding fundamental developmental processes, particularly in brain development and tissue regeneration, using zebrafish as a model system to investigate cellular and molecular mechanisms relevant to human health and disease.
