Michael Becerra

Michael Becerra, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS), where he has served since August 2022. He holds a PhD in Counseling from Texas A&M University Commerce (2010), a Master of Rehabilitation Counseling (MRC) from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) from University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

Research Interests: His work focuses on aging, disability, career readiness, Latino family systems, technology integration in counseling, and men's wellness. Recent publications examine online sexual addiction, masculinity norms, and the impact of technology on school counselors.

Academic Contributions: He teaches core counseling courses (COUN 721, 728, 732, 733) and contributes to dissertation committees. Office hours: Monday-Wednesday 1-5 PM, Tuesday/Thursday 3-5 PM.
