Mia Rönnmar

Mia Rönnmar is a Professor in Private Law at the Faculty of Law, Lund University, and a leading expert in labour law, industrial relations, and EU law. She is currently on leave from Lund University (2024–2030) while serving as Vice-Chancellor/President of Malmö University. She remains a key figure in Lund’s academic community through her roles in the Norma Research Programme and the Lund Human Rights Research Hub.

Her research focuses on Swedish, comparative, and EU labour law, using interdisciplinary and legal-dogmatic methods. Key areas include employment protection, age discrimination, flexicurity, and the social dimension of the EU. She has published extensively in monographs, edited volumes, and international journals, contributing to foundational debates on the interaction between EU law and national industrial relations.

Her recent publications reflect a strong trend toward comparative and policy-oriented analysis of labour rights, with emphasis on human rights, social justice, and the impact of EU jurisprudence on national legal systems. Themes such as intergenerational equity, non-discrimination, and social dialogue recur across her work.

Mia Rönnmar has supervised multiple doctoral candidates to completion and served as an opponent in PhD defenses across Scandinavia and Europe. She has led significant research projects, including CARE4CARE (Horizon Europe) and the Lund Human Rights Research Hub, and has collaborated with the European Commission, ILO, and national agencies. Her work bridges academia, policy, and practice, enhancing legal education and societal development.

She is a core member of the Norma Research Programme and has contributed to the governance of Lund University as former Dean of the Faculty of Law (2015–2020). Her interdisciplinary collaborations span law, sociology, and social policy, fostering innovation in legal research and education.
