Melanie Smith

Dr. Melanie Smith is an Assistant Professor of Public Administration at Park University's Parkville Campus. She holds a dual BS in Mathematics and Nursing from Virginia Tech and Creighton University, an MS in Mathematics from Eastern Washington University, and a PhD in Public Safety Leadership – Emergency Management from Capella University.

Her research focuses on emergency management education, community resilience strategies, and post-disaster recovery mechanisms. She is an active member of the International Association of Emergency Managers and the American Society for Public Administration.
