Melanie Roberts

Dr Melanie Roberts is a Senior Lecturer in Applied Mathematics at Griffith University's School of Environment and Science, holding an ARC Mid-Career Industry Fellowship. She leads research on mathematical models for gully erosion and water quality, collaborating with Queensland Government and industry. Her work focuses on developing tools for catchment management to protect the Great Barrier Reef. Roberts earned a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Western Australia and has prior experience at IBM Research Australia in emergency management and agricultural modeling.

Research Interests: Mathematical modeling of environmental systems, including gully erosion processes, water quality dynamics, and industrial applications. Her models address environmental challenges such as sediment transport, catchment management, and climate adaptation.
