Melanie Fant

Dr. Melanie Fant is an Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Nursing since April 2024. She holds a PhD in Nursing Science (2023) from UT Health Science Center and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (2010) from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville.

Research Interests: Dr. Fant specializes in high-risk maternal care, focusing on patient-clinician communication among pregnant and postpartum mothers. Her work explores telehealth interventions for improving maternal-fetal outcomes in underserved communities, particularly through community engagement initiatives.

Professional Affiliations: She is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society and the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses Organization.

Additional Contributions: Dr. Fant has participated in community engagement activities such as speaking engagements at the Arkansas Birthing Project’s annual meetings and programs like the Porter Leath Home Visitation Program.
