Melanie Conrad is the Associate Dean and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mass Communications at the University of West Georgia, part of the School of Communication, Film, and Media. She holds a B.A. in Speech Communication (University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 1990), an M.A. in Communication (Mankato State University, 1993), and a Ph.D. in Rhetorical Theory (Wayne State University, 1998).
Her research and teaching focus on rhetorical theory, public speaking, digital/social media communication, and communication pedagogy. She has taught courses such as Human Communication, Public Speaking, Rhetoric and Social Influence, and Advanced Communication Skills across multiple semesters, including online and hybrid sections.
Dr. Conrad’s academic service includes roles in curriculum development and course coordination, with extensive experience in syllabus design and academic administration. She maintains office hours in Miller Hall and has consistently taught core communication courses since at least 2020.
