Meghan Sweeney is a Professor of the Practice and Cooney Family Director of the PULSE Program for Service Learning at Boston College's Theology Department, within the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences. Her roles include teaching and directing a social justice education program integrating theology, philosophy, and community engagement. She has held faculty positions since 2006 and expanded her leadership in 2014 as the program director.
Education: Ph.D., Emory University; Certificate in Ministry, Episcopal Divinity School; M.Div., Harvard Divinity School; B.A., College of the Holy Cross.
Research and teaching focus on theological anthropology and social theologies, emphasizing ethics, community, and justice. Courses include PULSE series on social responsibility, justice, and faith-based activism, alongside capstone courses linking personal and public dimensions of social engagement.
Her service extends beyond academia to refugee resettlement, legal aid, hospital chaplaincy, and parish ministry as an Episcopal priest. Office hours are M/W 1–2:30 PM, Tu 2:30–4 PM.
