Megan Wright is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Education at the University of York, currently holding an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowship from the White Rose Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership (WRDTP). Previously, she served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Nottingham (2024) and a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Hogan Research Institute (2023-2024).
Her educational background includes a PhD in Psychology in Education from the University of York (2020-2023), supervised by Professor Sophie von Stumm and funded by Hogan Assessment Systems.
Dr. Wright's research investigates the psychology of adulthood, focusing on how individuals develop adult identity when traditional milestones (marriage, parenthood, home ownership) are delayed. She examines individual differences in adulthood perceptions and their associations with wellbeing through both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. Her technical expertise spans R programming, meta-analysis, data simulation, and Open Science practices on the OSF platform.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong emphasis on meta-analytic approaches to adulthood markers (2024) and DNA-education prediction (2024), complemented by earlier work on parental influences on child intelligence (2022). Collectively, her research bridges developmental psychology, educational contexts, and wellbeing measurement across contemporary life stages.
Her scientific recognition includes:
- ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowship (2025)
Current research is supported by her ESRC fellowship project mentored by Dr. Beth Bell, investigating adulthood perceptions' impact on wellbeing through semi-structured interviews. Previously, her PhD research received funding from Hogan Assessment Systems.
Dr. Wright actively contributes to the Psychology in Education Research Centre and engages the public through Psychology Today, Psyche magazine, and the Pint of Science Festival organization committee (York, 2024).
