Meaghan Christian

Meaghan Christian is a Lecturer in the Department of Nutrition, Dietetics and Food at Monash University’s Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. Her research focuses on public health nutrition, particularly on addressing health inequities through improvements in food environments. She applies systems thinking to evaluate complex public health interventions and is actively involved in projects targeting remote Indigenous communities in Australia.

Her research interests include public health nutrition, food environment assessment, Indigenous health, health equity, community-based participatory research, and the application of systems thinking in public health. She has developed technical expertise in evaluating multi-component nutrition interventions and has contributed to the development of survey tools and benchmarking protocols for healthy food retail in remote settings.

Her recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on co-design, stakeholder engagement, and the evaluation of food retail environments in Indigenous communities. She is a Chief Investigator on multiple active research and education projects, including initiatives to support healthy remote stores and micro-credentialing in higher education.

Meaghan Christian supervises research projects and is accepting PhD students. She collaborates with a broad network of public health researchers and contributes to policy-relevant research that aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Her work is supported by active grants and national-level recognition for excellence in education and community engagement.
