Associate Professor Megan Ferguson directs Higher Degree Research in the School of Public Health at the University of Queensland, focusing on food security and nutrition policy in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Her community-engaged research develops approaches to support local decision-making for improving nutrition outcomes. Projects examine food retail environments, policy implementation, and strategies to enhance food security in remote Australia through co-design methods.
Current initiatives include benchmarking healthy food stores, evaluating price discounts on healthy foods, and assessing diet quality during pregnancy and early childhood in remote communities.
