Mauro Papi

Mauro Papi is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at the University of Aberdeen's Department of Economics within the Business School. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Trento (2011) and has held academic positions at the University of St Andrews (2010-2012) and University College London (2012-2013). His research focuses on bounded rationality, economic theory, and experimental economics, particularly exploring how deviations from full rationality impact financial decisions and consumer behavior. He actively supervises PhD students in Economics and teaches courses such as Advanced Microeconomics (EC4025) and The Global Economy (EC1506).

His research combines theoretical modeling with experimental design, addressing topics like choice overload, urgency effects, and satisficing behavior. Notable contributions include studies on duopolistic competition, price competition dynamics, and procedural models of decision-making. Papi’s work bridges behavioral insights with classical economic frameworks, emphasizing real-world applicability.

Papi is affiliated with research centers such as the Aberdeen Centre for Research in Energy Economics and the Environment (ACREEF).
