Maurizio Schenone

Maurizio Schenone is an Associate Professor at the Department of Management and Production Engineering (DIGEP) within the College of Management and Production Engineering at the Polytechnic of Turin. He teaches Mechanical Systems and Production Planning and Logistics courses across Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Production programs while serving as a member of both the College of Management and Production Engineering and the College of Mechanical, Aerospace and Automotive Engineering.

His research focuses on industrial plants and logistics with expertise in production technology and supply chain optimization. Key areas include:

• Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS) modeling
• Lean Manufacturing implementation in emerging economies
• Digital Twin applications for intra-logistics
• Pandemic impacts on supply chains
• Industrial design and process engineering

His work addresses industrial efficiency and innovation aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goal 9. Recent publications demonstrate strong trends in warehouse optimization algorithms, digital transformation of logistics, and resilience of supply chains in crisis situations.

Professor Schenone has secured multiple commercially funded research projects including scientific coordination of the "SEAMLESS OPERATIONS" training plan (2022-2023) and "Department Efficiency" initiative (2020-2021). He has served as Scientific Manager for technical evaluations including ski lift maintenance contracts and has been a continuous member of the PhD college for Production Systems & Industrial Design since the 19th cycle (2003/2004), mentoring doctoral candidates for over two decades.
