Matthijs Lunenburg

Matthijs Lunenburg is a Lecturer for recorder at the Mozarteum University Salzburg's Department of Wind & Percussion Instruments, where he has taught since 2012. He assists recorder player Dorothee Oberlinger and offers specialized instruction in cornett as an elective subject.

His research focuses on historical performance practices, particularly the music of the 16th and 17th centuries with emphasis on improvised diminution (ornamentation techniques). He maintains active performance engagements across Europe.

Lunenburg studied recorder at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (Bachelor's and Master's degrees) and pursued advanced cornett training with William Dongois in Paris/Geneva, completed at the State Music Academy Trossingen (2012), supported by a scholarship from the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds.
