About
Matthieu Hicguet is a postdoctoral research associate affiliated with the University of Rennes, currently working under Dr. Ludovic Faverau and Dr. Yann Trolez. He will join Prof. Raphaël Robiette's group at Université Catholique de Louvain in September 2025.
His research focuses on developing boron-based template methods for synthesizing rotaxanes - mechanically interlocked molecules with unique optoelectronic properties. This work builds on his dual expertise in chemical engineering and molecular chemistry obtained from Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Rennes (ENSCR).
Key publications include: one in Angewandte Chemie International Edition about boron-assembled rotaxanes. His work has been supported by the CDO project which encourages high-risk/high-reward research during PhD studies.
- Professor Pierre Gineste Chemistry Thesis Prize (2024)
- Rennes Metropole Scholarship
- EUR Lumomat Scholarship
Matthieu acknowledges his PhD supervisors Dr. Fabienne Berrée and Dr. Yann Trolez, the COrInt research team at ISCR (Rennes Institute of Chemical Sciences), and his collaborators at Meijo University (Nagoya, Japan). He credits the University of Rennes Foundation for recognizing his thesis work.
