Matthew Vetter is a Professor of English at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), affiliated with the Language, Literature, and Writing Department within the College of Arts, Humanities, Media, and Public Affairs. His office is located in 506-P Leonard Hall.
Dr. Vetter's educational background includes a PhD in English from Ohio University (2015), an MA in English from Morehead State University (2010), an MFA in Writing from Spalding University (2008), and a BA in English from Morehead State University (2005). Before joining IUP, he served as a visiting assistant professor at Ohio University Zanesville and as assistant director of Composition at Ohio University.
His research examines the intersection of writing, digital technology, and critical literacy, with particular focus on how digital communities marginalize social groups and identities. Dr. Vetter explores pedagogical opportunities afforded by technology while advocating for cultural critique of communicative interfaces and new media.
Dr. Vetter serves as section editor of Kairos: A Journal of Rhetoric, Technology, and Pedagogy and has partnered with the Wiki Education Foundation since 2011 to promote academic Wikipedia participation through student assignments and educator workshops. His scholarly work appears in Computers and Composition Online, Research Library Issues, Composition Studies, and Harlot.
As a poet, Dr. Vetter has published in Midwest Quarterly, American Life in Poetry, the Louisville Review, and the Journal of Kentucky Studies. He teaches courses including ENGL 846: Digital Rhetoric, ENGL 831: Rhetorical Traditions, and ENGL 101: Composition I.
