Matthew Ussia is a Teaching Professor and Director of First Year Writing at Duquesne University, affiliated with the McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. in English Literature and Criticism from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (2012), an M.A. (2003), and a B.A. from Saint Francis University (1999). His teaching spans courses like Writing & Analysis, American Underground Literature, and Literary Theory.
Research focuses on literary theory, pedagogy, and how globalization and modernity shape identity. He has published poetry (e.g., The Red Glass Cat) and contributed to journals like Mister Rogers and Philosophy. He co-edited The Dreamers Anthology and Recasting Masculinity.
