Matthew Reardon serves as Associate Professor of History in the Department of History at the Sybil B. Harrington College of Fine Arts and Humanities, West Texas A&M University, where he has taught since joining the faculty in fall 2013.

Dr. Reardon specializes in gender politics within the early modern British Atlantic World, with particular focus on the construction of African masculinity in early America. His teaching portfolio spans United States history to 1877, colonial and revolutionary America, the British Atlantic World framework, gender and society dynamics, and the history of science, medicine, and technology. Current research includes a monograph titled 'A “Manly Spirit”: The Gendered Origins of the American Revolution' and a forthcoming article examining fraternal structures in Puritanism across Old and New England.
