Matthew Ponesse is an Associate Professor of History at Ohio Dominican University. He holds a Ph.D. in Medieval Studies from the University of Toronto, along with an M.A. in Medieval Studies and a B.A. in History and Philosophy from the same institution. His teaching focuses on European History, the Middle Ages, Latin, and the Core curriculum, as well as the Masters of Arts in Liberal Studies program.
Dr. Ponesse's research examines monastic education and practices in 8th-9th century Europe, alongside the transmission of patristic learning in Carolingian Europe. In 2006, he received the Conley Award for exceptional teaching. His office is located in Sansbury Hall, Room 243.
