Matthew McCright

Matthew McCright is a Senior Lecturer in Piano at Carleton College, where he has taught since 2005. A renowned pianist, he has performed globally at venues like Carnegie Hall and Ireland’s National Concert Hall, specializing in contemporary music and collaborations with innovative composers.

• Education: DMA in Piano Performance from the University of Minnesota, MM in Piano from the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music, and BM in Piano Performance (Magna Cum Laude) from Westminster College.
• Performance Highlights: Premiered works by composers such as Pauline Oliveros and Paul Dresher, with festival appearances at Bang on a Can and Spark Festival of Electronic Music.
• Recordings: Released eight solo albums, including Hanging by a Thread (Proper Canary) and Endurance (Vox Novus).
• Awards:
  • Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative (four-time recipient)
• Collaborations: Tours with violinist Francesca Anderegg and flutist Linda Chatterton (Chatterton-McCright Duo), with whom he released French Connections (Proper Canary, 2016).
