Matthew McAllister

Matthew McAllister is a Lecturer in Guitar at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where he contributes to the BMus, MMus, and Doctor of Performing Arts programmes. He also teaches at the University of Glasgow, serves as a visiting tutor at the Interlochen Center for the Arts, and is the External Examiner for Leeds College of Music, reflecting a broad academic footprint in guitar education.

His primary research and performance interests lie in classical guitar, chamber music, guitar pedagogy, and music transcription. He is deeply engaged in digital music education through his popular YouTube channel, Gallery of Guitar, which features performances, tutorials, interviews, and global competitions. His work bridges traditional concert performance with modern digital outreach.

Matthew has received the YouTube Silver Play Button Award for surpassing 100,000 subscribers, recognizing his significant impact in online music education. He actively mentors students through private lessons and virtual instruction via Zoom, supporting learners worldwide.
