Matthew Jackson

Matthew Jackson is an Associate Professor at the Bellisario College of Communications, Pennsylvania State University, specializing in Telecommunications and Media Industries. He holds a Ph.D. from Indiana University, with prior degrees from the University of Florida. His research explores the intersection of copyright law and free speech, telecommunications policy, and Internet regulation. He has published in journals like Cardozo Arts & Entertainment Law Journal and Journal of Communication, and contributed a chapter on cable regulation to the textbook Communication and the Law.

Professor Jackson’s work bridges academia and practice, with professional experience in radio (earning AP awards) and founding Fervent Music, a music management agency. He actively presents at conferences and serves as Vice-Chair of the Law and Policy Division of the International Communication Association. His research on Internet copyright has been adopted as recommended reading by institutions like Harvard Law School.
